Army MOS Codes are a combination of nine characters and deciphering codes leads you to a lot of information related to the personnel’s proficiency. Basically, the code defines the military occupational specialty of a personnel and it is used to gauge the job responsibilities of a person in the army. The code’s first three characters tell about the personnel and usually, it is made up of two numbers followed by an alphabet. These two numbers define the career management field and the alphabet is either used to donate a class or rank in the field. For example, the 46Q stands for a Public Affairs officer, 46 CMF, and 46Q means a Public Affairs Specialist. Similarly, other agroups are divided and deciphered for defining the job responsibility of the personnel.
The Nine Characters of Army MOS Codes
Each of the nine characters of the army mos codes have a particular meaning and all of these characters are used to define the job responsibilities of the personnel. The first three form the description of the Army MOS and the particular role in the career management field. The fourth character is used to represent the skill level with 0 being the default trainee level of the army MOS codes. Similarly, 1 stands for a private, 2 stands for a Sergeant, 3 identifies a Staff Sergeant, 4 identifies a Sergeant First Class and 5 stands for a Master Sergeant. The fifth character is a special qualification identifier while the sixth and seventh characters combine to form an additional skill identifier. The eighth and ninth characters form the requirements and qualifications respectively and are associated with a language identification code.
Various Army MOS Codes
The codes make up the entire skill set of army personnel and a list of army MOS codes contains some basic sets. The army mos code for aviation is 15 and this contains further classifications according to roles and duties. The army MOS codes for US Marine Corps is MOS 0311 and it is the basic code for the Rifleman class. The military intelligence career management field is 35 and further segregation is done by dividing it into 35L, 35P, 35F and 35G. The army MOS codes for all these specializations are different and they let you identify the job requirements for the listed personnel.
